Here’s how to easily assemble the Silvano pergola yourself!

During the 2020 gardening season, Outdoor Life Products launched the Douglas pergola with a sunshade for the first time. We created clear assembly instructions, ensured the product was attractively packaged and focused on high-quality product images. Throughout the season, the pergola proved to be a highly popular product. This prompted our product development team to develop a black-painted version of the pergola for the 2021 gardening season. Now you might be wondering, what exactly is a pergola? How does the colouring process work? And what should I look out for when assembling a Silvano pergola? You can read all about it in this blog by Product Manager Suzie.

What is the Outdoor Life Products product development team?
The Outdoor Life Products product development team is a group of colleagues from various disciplines who meet weekly to take new products from concept to completion. Every gardening season, a longlist of ideas is drawn up. Only the best and potentially most successful ideas make it through the selection rounds and reach the finish line as a physical product.

What exactly is the Silvano pergola?
A pergola is a structure made of beams on tall posts that is placed freestanding in the garden, for example above a patio. The Silvano pergola in black-sprayed pine with sunshade fabric features a high-quality shade cloth that offers protection from the sun. The anthracite fabric is secured with eyelets and buttons and has a light grey and a dark grey side. You can decide for yourself which side to place on top and which on the bottom; both options are possible. The eyelets and buttons can be easily removed, allowing the fabric to be stored away during the winter. A pergola provides a decorative solution for long summer days in the garden.

How exactly does the colouring process work?
The Silvano pergola, painted black, is made of pine. We treat it with black water-repellent paint that penetrates deep into the wood. Thanks to its silk-matt finish, the beautiful wood grain remains slightly visible. After this black treatment, the pergola is protected against the elements for approximately 3 to 5 years. To repair minor surface defects, we include a 500 ml bottle of paint with the flat-pack kit.

What should I bear in mind when assembling a pergola?
The Silvano pergola is supplied as a flat-pack kit, including fixing materials. You can easily assemble the pergola with two people using our step-by-step assembly instructions. To help you get started, we have created an informative assembly video:
